DATE; ------
Dear Victorian National Parks Association, I am writing on behalf of community members from Gippsland, including No Offshore Turbines – 90 Mile Beach, to thank you for your strong and principled advocacy for Victoria’s parks, marine environments and biodiversity, and to encourage your continued leadership regarding the proposed Gippsland offshore wind developments and associated transmission infrastructure.

Your previous submissions on the Gippsland Offshore Wind Zone raised critical concerns we strongly share — particularly the need to identify environmentally sensitive areas before development decisions are made, and the importance of avoiding harm rather than relying on mitigation or offsets after the fact.

We are especially concerned about potential impacts on:
*RAMSAR-listed Corner Inlet, a wetland of international importance
*Marine and coastal ecosystems adjacent to national and coastal parks
*Seabird, marine mammal, shark and fish migration, breeding and nursery areas
*Seascape and visual values along the Gippsland coast
The cumulative impacts of offshore infrastructure combined with large onshore transmission corridors Gippsland’s marine and coastal environments are among Victoria’s most significant natural assets. Decisions made now risk long-term and irreversible impacts on protected areas that exist to be conserved for future generations.

We respectfully ask VNPA to continue advocating for:
Clear no-go zones in high-conservation marine and coastal areas.
Early, science-based independent mapping of sensitive habitats before project siting.
Genuine avoidance of environmental harm, not post-approval offsets.
Full independent assessment of cumulative and long-term impacts across land and sea.

Many in our community feel environmental values are being sidelined in the rush to meet energy targets. We look to VNPA as a trusted voice to ensure protection of parks and marine environments remains paramount.
Thank you for standing up for Victoria’s natural heritage. We appreciate your leadership and would welcome any opportunity to support your advocacy in Gippsland.

Kind regards,
Emma Jade
